What is veganism:
What is a vegan? A vegan, like me, do not believe in killing any sentient animal, and stands up for animal rights. The words listed for “sentient” in the thesaurus are: “emotional,” “responsive,” “sensitive,” “perceptive,” “feeling,” “sentimental, “conscious,” “alert,” “awake,” “breathing”, “aware,” “living,” “flesh-and-blood,” and “alive.” Vegans do not eat animal meat or products that come from animals. These include dairy, such as milk, butter, and cream. Vegans do not wear clothing or jewelry that come from animals, such as leather and fur. Vegans believe that animals feel pain, distress, and deserve to live their lives without the fear of being tortured, and killed for food and clothing.
Unlike vegetarians, vegans do not eat animal products like eggs, cheese and milk. Ethical vegans will not eat these animal products especially with factory farms being so large and their practices so horrible. There are many reasons to not want to participate in meat producing industry.
Some people who eat a plant based diet may call themselves vegans, but do not consider animals. These people are more concerned about their health, and the ethics of eating animal products does not cross their minds. Ethical vegans will never do this, and opposed to eating animal products because of the cruel treatment of animals.
The terms ethical vegan and environmental veganism is also used. The ethical vegan not only follows a vegan diet, but extends the vegan philosophy into other areas of their lives. Ethical vegans oppose the use of animals, and animal products for any purpose. Environmental veganism refers to the avoidance of animal products on the premise the harvesting or industrial farming of animals is damaging the environment and is unsustainable.
